Experimenting with less

For the Uncluttered course I’m doing, this module (over the last three weeks of the course) focuses on changing habits and experimenting with less.

As part of this, we did an abbreviated version of Courtney Carver’s Project 333, narrowing down our closets to 33 items for the last three weeks of the course.

I had already decluttered my wardrobe but this was an interesting exercise, as I noticed that there were still a lot of unused clothes and that even with a pared down closet, it was still tricky to get dressed in the morning. So I was excited to give it a try.

This picture almost looks black and white, doesn’t it? I didn’t purposefully limit myself to a black and gray color scheme, but had noticed that those colors are what I’ve been gravitating towards in this season of my life.

It has definitely been easier picking out what to wear because I know I like everything in there. Sometimes I have to make sure the gray tones don’t clash too much, but otherwise, it’s pretty foolproof.

Here are my items:

5 t-shirts
7 long-sleeved shirts
3 sweaters
2 blazers
3 dresses
3 pairs of jeans
1 pair of leggings
1 pair of sweatpants
1 necklace
1 pair of earrings
1 pair of black boots
1 pair of long black boots
1 pair of rain boots
1 pair of brown boots
1 hat
1 scarf

I’ve done a capsule wardrobe before but I don’t think I limited the number quite this much. So far it’s working great!

Has anyone else ever tried this before? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
